What just happened?

Prompt 19.jpg

I wrote a poem
In my head
But I didn’t
Write it out
And now I see…
It’s circling
The drain

It happens
Again & again…
Wouldn’t you
Think I’d learn?
But I’ve learned
It isn’t always

You see…
When I said it
I meant it…
Standing in
The shower…
It’s truly going
Down the drain

How do you
Retain the
Doesn’t cling
To neurons
All that remains
Memory that
It once was
And is no more

Robert … I know that feeling so well … many poems written and washed away in the shower, many written during the night and not written down because I know I will remember in the morning … such is the poet’s life!!! Perfect response:)

Thank you, Annie. Probably will always happen…even keeping my iPad in bed doesn’t keep me from losing some ideas. And can’t take that to the shower.

I absolutely hate when that happens ! I find myself pulling over off the road on a busy highway just to write my thoughts down ,lol then when I read later it makes no sense poof my train of thought is gone 😁😳

There’s no easy fix, is there? Shirt pocket full of scraps of paper with scribbled poems and bits attests.
