He was a natural
That’s what they say
When a young man
Has all the skills
To be great in baseball…
So why did he walk away?

Modern life offers…
(If that’s the right word)
Many distractions
And most of little value
To making a life of
Value in the end

You might ask…
What value is there
In men playing a boys’ game
But that misses the point…
Peaceful competition
And comradeship
Builds character…right?
And when he chose instead
To withdraw from that
How did he help himself
When he’s adrift…
What are his goals?

We can only hope
He finds himself

One doesn’t always understand a persons choices.. We don’t always have all the information to see the truth! Well written!

And, if you’re young and lacking experience and insight, and…let’s face it…judgement, it’s too easy to waste an opportunity or make an unfortunate choice. I made my share…maybe more than my share.

True that! I have as well. How else are we to learn..

Would be nice if someone had written about their experience and we learned from it…and so I write, and part of the motivation is for others to see and avoid my mistakes.
