Thank you, Suzanne. My true feeling. There’s a big difference between V.I.P.s and heroes, but most seem to not make the distinction. My heroes rise above by their actions, not celebrity, as I think it should be.

Our media conspire to create gods and goddesses out of celebrity, often totally devoid of any real talent. They distract us from the shell game being played by the powerful seeking more power, often working their machinations from the shadows. Such is the world we now inhabit, but we don’t have to be sucked into it. George Carlin was a hero, because he spoke his mind and told the truth. Paul Newman was a hero, because he lived a full life and shared his good fortune. Bill gates isn’t a hero, because no matter how much he’s donated, he’s always looking like it’s self serving. That’s my opinion, of course, but I’m sticking with it.
